2013 Archery Summit Estate Pinot Noir
Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Intriguing and lively, the 2013 Archery Summit Estate opens with captivating aromas of spiced
blackberry, smoky Earl Grey tea, red currant and black cherry. On the palate are polished flavors of
sarsaparilla, lavender, walnut meat, cassis and bramble that highlight the unmistakable Dundee Hills
core of dark red cherry. This wine expands on the palate with juicy acidity that culminates in an elegant,
velvety texture on the finish.
Vineyards
Archery Summit Estate is our home vineyard that surrounds our winery in the Dundee Hills AVA. This
16 acre vineyard was planted in 1994 just after Archery Summit’s inception and is an extension of our
efforts to establish the best combinations of vines and rootstocks with soil and mesoclimate. The site
exemplifies our continued pursuit to craft America’s premier Pinot Noir.
Winemaking
Fruit for the 2013 Archery Summit Estate was hand picked September 27th through October 5th. The
fruit was hand sorted and soaked cold for six to ten days, after which native yeast fermentation was
allowed to proceed under temperature-controlled conditions in both stainless steel and wooden open
top fermentors. During primary fermentation, tanks were punched down up to two times per day. After
limited post-fermentation maceration, the wine was sent via gravity to 42% new French oak barrels
and aged for 8 months, then the wine was racked and transferred to older barrels for four months of
additional barrel aging.
